Australian osteopath Daniel Vladeta, D.O.—with expertise in neuroscience, prosthetic engineering, and osteopathy—began developing the Oov in 2008 with one mission: create a tool that teaches the body to move better through self-correction, not force.
He was inspired by how unstable surfaces can awaken deep stabilizing muscles, but found most devices either flattened the spine or compromised posture. His vision was different—design an ergonomic, contoured shape that supported the spine’s natural curves while introducing three-dimensional instability. After years of prototypes—some too hard, some too soft, some too unstable—he perfected the now-iconic crescent shape: firm enough to support, forgiving enough to allow movement, and engineered to awaken the body’s natural corrective responses.
What makes the Oov extraordinary is how it challenges you to activate from your true center of gravity—the way we are designed to move—rather than relying on inefficient compensation patterns. This means your muscles, joints, and fascia learn to work in harmony, creating strength and stability from the inside out.
Today, the Oov is in over 300 clinics worldwide and has trained 900+ practitioners across Pilates, rehabilitation, and elite sports. But it’s more than a studio tool—it’s a training device for every body. From athletes fine-tuning performance, to office workers improving posture, to older adults building stability and balance, the Oov adapts to your needs and helps you move without overloading or straining compensatory muscles.
Adding the Oov into your life—not just your Pilates practice—teaches you to move from your center, eliminates harmful compensation patterns, and builds a foundation of intelligent strength you carry into everything: walking, lifting, running, even sitting at your desk.
